Intravenous and Injected Vitamin Therapies

Administered at IMI by our certified and experienced medical doctor, Intravenous (IV) and injected vitamin therapy are safe methods of infusing key vitamins and minerals directly into the bloodstream to provide an immediate therapeutic effect. In bypassing the digestive system, a higher than normal blood levels of nutrients can be achieved.

Injected B12 (IV B12)

Vitamin B12 is essential for the healthy functioning of your brain and nervous system, and a key building block of red blood cells. It is well known that low vitamin B12 causes fatigue, and may also lead to muscle aches, tingling in the fingers or toes, inability to concentrate, poor memory, as well as cardiovascular and digestive problems.

Injected Vitamin B12 is a safe and efficient way to remedy the deficiency quickly. Generally the therpay provides an immediate boost to energy for people who experience fatigue due to a deficiency.

Vegans and most vegetarians are commonly shown to be low in vitamin B12 levels. The B12 used at IMI is the optimal Methylcobalamine form, which is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Injected B complex Vitamins

B vitamins are essential for healthy nerve and metabolic functions, and also fortify resistance to stress, yet deficiency is common. Injected B complex therapy may help to promote energy and the health of the nervous system.

High Dose Intravenous Vitamin C (IVC)

Our body is only able to absorb certain levels of vitamin C orally. Taking more than 300mg at one time will decrease the absorption and may even casue diarrhoea. With Intravenous (IV) drips of vitamin C, however, we can deliver up to 100 times the normal blood levels harmlessly and this therapy offers potent therapeutic effects.1

The most common applications of IVC are treatment for viral infections and chronic fatigue. Research also suggested that IVC may be effective for other conditions:

Viral Infections: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps to neutralize and eliminate toxins from your body, but it is most well know for enhancing your immune system. According to studies, IVC therapy may increase your resiliency to colds and flu and other common viral and bacterial infections.

Epstein Barr Virus and Chronic Fatugue: In some cases this viral infection can impair the immune system, and cause chronic fatigue. Our practitioners have seen good results with difficult to resolve Mononucleosis or Epstein Barr Virus infections. A published report showed positive results at clearig this virus in 178 patients with Chronic Fatigue2.

Exhaustion and Post Infection Recovery: IVC may improve your overall energy levels by supporting the adrenal glands to cope with stress, and Vitamin C is also well known to help your body to heal faster from injuries by assisting extracellular collagen production.

Cancer: IMI makes no claims for IVC in either treating cancer, nor for curing cancer. However, IVC is a valid complementary therapy and has been studied for its supportive benefits in a comprehensive cancer protocol. See the National Cancer Institute (NCI) webpage.

As noted on this National Cancer Institute website: “Some human studies of high-dose IV vitamin C in patients with cancer have shown improved quality of life, as well as improvements in physical, mental, and emotional functions, symptoms of fatigue, nausea and vomiting, pain, and appetite loss”

IV vitamin C, has caused very few side effects in clinical trials. IVC therapy is usually given between chemotherapy sessions minimize drug interactions. Here are excerpts from a published paper1:

“Vitamin C can potentially help cancer patients in a variety of ways: vitamin C replenishment is often needed in cancer patients, who are often depleted of this vitamin [3, 4], and it may improve immune system function and enhance patient health and well-being.”

“Ascorbate, at concentrations of 1 to 10 mM, attainable only with IVC, can have an inhibitory effect on tumor angiogenesis, a process of new blood vessel formation that is considered critical to tumor growth and metastasis. [5-6]”

“Clinical studies have demonstrated that IVC significantly improved global quality of life scores in cancer patients. Patients given IVC in addition to standard oncologic treatments benefited from less fatigue, reduction in nausea, improved appetite, reductions in depression and fewer sleep disorders [7, 8] and their overall intensity scores of adverse symptoms during therapy and aftercare were as little as half those of the control (no IVC) group. [9]”

Executive and Wellness Coaching

Do your hectic schedule, endless email exchanges, and the relentless pressure to perform stress you out?  If so, how do you manage your stress levels? How do you maintain your optimal personal energy throughout the day? How do you clear your mind at the end of a long week, switch off and get some much-needed personal time and rest? And, how do you endeavor to create new positive habits and sustain them in the long run?

Stress, insomnia, anxiety, chronic fatigue and an ongoing struggle to maintain work-life integration are common challenges for busy professionals in Hong Kong’s fast-paced, high-pressured work culture. With 24/7 connectivity driving information overload and blurring the lines between work and life, stress and anxiety from work are taking its toll on professionals’ health, family life and personal wellness.

Taking charge of your life and turning things around

Personal wellness and resilience are top priorities for individuals who seek to thrive, increase personal energy, excel in their roles, and enjoy harmonious relationships at home with partners, spouses and children.

Creating and designing a new life requires hard work and commitment. It is important to have a support network in place to bolster you when you’re weighed down. For all their well-meaning intentions, family and friends may have their own agenda, limited time or they may simply lack the know-how to truly empower you. At this time, a personal Executive and Wellness Coach can be the ideal sounding board.

“ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain and complex environment.” ~ International Coach Federation (ICF)

What is coaching?

Coaching offers an external sounding board that allows you to get to the very core of your personal challenges and proactively address them. By taking the reins, you can realize your full potential at work and at home and function at your personal best. Coaching empowers you to make the changes you need to lead the life you deserve.

With the support of a coach, you will benefit from the following:

  • Clearer direction of personal and/or professional goals
  • Reduced stress levels to manage emotional and mental pressures
  • Self-empowerment to manage own energy levels
  • Greater self-awareness (thinking patterns and emotional patterns)
  • Awareness of new and healthier choices to improve your wellbeing
  • An ability to make more mindful choices
  • Better work-life integration
  • A life that has purpose and meaning

In order to perform effectively in our professional and personal lives, it is imperative that we recognize and acknowledge the signs, red flags and the internal call for change. We often suppress these signs but, to prevent the risks of burnout or living an unfulfilled life, it’s important to take action. We all have the ability to create the life we want. We just need to learn how to do it and you can start now through Executive and Wellness Coaching.

Chiropractic and Chiropractic Kinesiology

Chiropractic is a natural, gentle, drug-free healing art that recognizes the body's self-healing abilities.

Chiropractors specialize in diagnosing and treating disorders of the spine, joints and muscles predominantly by means of treatment by hand.

On a client's first full visit, the chiropractor will take a through case history and carry out a full neurological and orthopedic examination. X-rays, MRI or further tests may also be taken when clinically relevant.

Once these examinations are complete, the chiropractor carries out detailed analysis of how the individual bones, joints and muscles move, to identify the specific problem.

Treatment may consist of gentle unlocking the stiff joints with skilled manipulation by hand, known as an 'adjustment'.

There are many chiropractic adjustment techniques. Quick, comfortable adjustments are used with just the right amount of pressure to restore proper function and mobility to joints.

Treatment does not exclusively involve an 'adjustment'. Depending on presenting complaints, a balance of other treatments include, trigger point therapy, massage, dry needling, stretching, postural, ergonomic and exercise therapy as well as other electro therapeutic modalities to restore normal function. Chiropractors do not prescribe drugs or use surgical procedures.

Depending on where any nerve irritation, muscular or ligamentous strain or sprain has occurred in your spine and/or periphery, symptoms may include but are not limited to the following: Headache or migraine, Neck pain, Back pain, Chest or abdominal pain, Shoulder, arm, wrist and hand pain, Leg, knee, ankle and foot pain.

Chiropractic Kinesiology

Chiropractic Kinesiologists look at the structural, nutritional, emotional, and energetic/meridian imbalances by using keen clinical observation, clinical history, and specific muscle testing. The lymphatic, vascular, acupuncture meridians, cranial, biochemical, muscular, endocrine, and nervous systems are commonly addressed while also looking at environmental factors pertinent to the client. It is a holistic body-mind therapy, and relies on reflexes called "muscle tests" to uncover the underlying issues—mental, emotional and physical.

The imbalances can be resolved through a myriad of options including spinal adjustments, cranial manipulation, jaw rebalancing, acupressure, pelvic blocking, emotional release, counselling, and specific nutritional recommendations. Restoring the balance often allows the innate healing mechanism of the body to overcome many "dis-ease" states.

Naturopathic Medicine combines the healing traditions of ancient India, China, and Europe with Western herbal medicine and modern scientific principles and technology.

Naturopathic doctors identify the causes of your illness, looking especially closely at your diet, nutritional deficiencies, allergies, and problems with digestion. The naturopath may also identify toxic exposures and stress and hormonal issues that may affect overall health.

Naturopathic treatments include herbal medicines, clinical nutrition, high-potency nutritional supplements, detoxification, and giving lifestyle advice. Naturopathy draws on a wide array of natural healing intervention and diagnostic techniques, including laboratory testing to promote optimal health and to treat and prevent disease.

Initial Naturopathic Consultation

NaturopathicDuring a Naturopathic Consultation, the practitioner looks at you as a whole, reviewing signs and symptoms of all body systems, potential allergies, and a review of diet. A naturopathic consultation will also review stress and lifestyle issues and prescribe treatments that support nerve and hormonal balance, and improve sleep and energy levels.

Naturopathic therapies are best for physical support for immunity and through periods of stress, as they have a rejuvenating effect. Naturopathy is also effective for anxiety, insomnia, depression, fatigue, migraines, and digestive issues.

Treatment may include an individualized liquid herbal extract preparation, nutritional supplements, and dietary changes. It may also be necessary to perform blood and urine tests and to conduct stool, digestive, hormone, or allergy analyses to determine the exact health issues.

An initial consultation is thorough and therefore takes an hour. Ongoing follow-up sessions are normally 30 minutes.

Follow-up Naturopathic Consultation

Follow-up sessions will check in on how your prescribed treatment is working or explain in some depth the results from any laboratory tests or diagnosis. Naturopaths take the time to educate their clients, as diet and lifestyle often play an important role in health. Sharing knowledge helps empower you to take proper care of your body and mind.

Further sessions will also coach you through healthy lifestyle changes, while allowing the healing effects of the therapies to go through several stages. These stages may involve detoxification, nutritional repair, restoring balance, and then finally full rejuvenation.

Nutritional Supplements and Customized Herbal Formulas

Our Naturopaths are also Medical Herbalists and will normally prescribe a customized mixture of liquid herbs. Our herbal tinctures and liquids are clinical-grade and made in Australia under strict, government-controlled GMP standards. Some European and North American encapsulated tablets are also used and are standardized in potency, allowing the naturopath to easily give clinically-proven dosages.

Naturopaths utilize herbs for short- or long-term treatment to support, heal, nourish, stimulate, or strengthen the body or body system. Thus, a wide range of acute or chronic ailments can be addressed. The use of medicinal herbs promotes self-healing, greater well-being, and prevents disease.

Naturopaths are also on the lookout for nutritional deficiencies, as these are the cause of many persistent symptoms. Appropriate diet changes are sometimes adequate. However since modern foods have lower levels of nutrients as compared to foods from several decades ago, health is often improved by the appropriate selection of nutritional supplements that allow the body to function optimally.

Clinical Nutrition (Naturopathic)

Healthy eating is an integral part of Naturopathy. The Naturopath will discuss your nutritional goals and look at your current dietary patterns.

Often food allergies or food intolerances have a dramatic impact on our health and well-being. Our naturopaths are qualified in Clinical Nutrition and will be able to diagnose and identify potential allergies for both adults and children and recommend appropriate treatment.

One core concept in Naturopathy is to detoxify the body. A diet supporting detoxification is commonly advised. The concept is modified as appropriate for weight loss, heart disease, or other issues.

Initial Integrated Health Consultation

If you are not sure where to start, you can have a short initial Integrated Health Consultation with one of our health professionals, who will then sign-post you to the right course of treatment or programme for you. It is quite an expert decision to select the best practitioner or therapeutic treatment course for your needs.

This can save you time and money in the long term, as well as offer you the most effective way to enhance your health and well-being.
